How To Find Album Info In Windows Media Player

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

For Windows Media Player to automatically get info about the songs, such as the name of the CD, the artist, and titles for the tracks being ripped, the system should be connected to the internet.

Method 1:

You can run the Windows Media Player Settings and Windows Media Player Library troubleshooter from:

Open control panel > Search for Troubleshooting.
Click on View all at the right pane.
Search for Windows Media Player Settings and Windows Media Player Library troubleshooter and run each of them.

Method 2:

If you get an error message when you try to find album info that says you need to change your privacy settings, select Organize , select Options , select the Privacy tab, and then select the Update music files by retrieving media info from the Internet check box.

Hi,

Thank you for the response.

This issue could be because of Windows Media Player not able to communicate to musicmatch-ssl.xboxlive.com service.

There are few thing we can try to eliminate the cause of this issue.

Try to enable Windows media player and its services on Windows firewall, to do that.

Open Control Panel, change the view by drop down to small icons.
Search for Windows Defender Firewall.
On the right pane select Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall.
Click on Change Settings.
Search for Windows Media Player and it's network services.
Check the boxes for both public and private, click on OK.

If the issue still persist, please reply to this post with more information.

Hello Amit

I have followed the steps above - and the 'private' and 'public' tick boxes were indeed, un-ticked.

I therefore ticked them, but the public box for 'Windows Media Player Sharing Centre' is greyed-out - I am unable to tick it.

Possibly as a consequence of this, I still cannot access album information from the internet.

Click on the Change Settings button above the collection of applications displayed in the windows. This should activate the checkboxes.

It worked for me.
