How To Get Charge Of Light Destiny 2
Like most Destiny expansions, Beyond Light comes with a small group of new armor Exotics for players to express themselves. There are some powerful pieces this time around, like the Warlock's Necrotic Grip or the Hunter's Mask of Bakris. But players used to picking up Fated Engrams from Xur or hoping to randomly pick up an Exotic off the ground won't find these new armor items.
Instead, Guardians will need to brave some super tough Lost Sectors to pick up Beyond Light's six new Exotics. Here's how to earn the Mask of Bakris, Dawn Chorus, Precious Scars, Necrotic Grip, Athrys's Embrace, and Icefall Mantle in Destiny 2: Beyond Light.
Master and Legend Lost Sectors
The only way players have found to get these new Exotics is to solo difficult Lost Sectors.
Each day, there are two, rotating Lost Sectors: a Master Lost Sector and Legend Lost Sector. We've only seen these appear on Europa and the Cosmodrome so far. These Lost Sectors have special little icons on the map, denoting their added difficulty. But just because a Lost Sector is the Legend of Master of the day doesn't mean that's the only way to play them that day. They have a special flag that players can interact with to launch into the difficult version.
Legend Lost Sectors are 1250 power at Beyond Light's launch and Master Lost Sectors are 1280. On the map icon, you'll see a list of modifiers meant to make the Lost Sector more difficult.
If you're Exotic hunting, you want to pay attention to the bottom of the tooltip: rewards. On Legend and Master, you'll see a parenthetical that says "If Solo" followed by "Exotic X" (X being an armor slot that rotates each day, like arms or chest). This means you have a chance to get an Exotic in that slot if you finish the Lost Sector without any other allies in your Fireteam.
All six of the new Beyond Light Exotics are either arms or helmets, so you're looking for a daily Legend Lost Sector with either "(If Solo) Exotic Arms Armor" or "(If Solo) Exotic Helmet Armor." Complete that Lost Sector for a shot at your new Exotic piece.
It's worth noting that your Exotic isn't guaranteed — especially at Legend. But while the tooltip says "rare" for an Exotic on Legend, we got several Exotics on our first try and the longest dry streak we had was four. So while not guaranteed, the drop rate is pretty good. If you keep at it for about an hour, you'll almost certainly walk away with at least one new Exotic.
Tips for finishing Master and Legend Lost Sectors
Carving out the time for these uber-tough Lost Sectors is one thing, but actually completing them is another. Here are some quick tips for finishing these Lost Sectors.
We recommend you don't try either of these until you're within at least 30 Power (1220 for Legend and 1250 for Master).
Diversify your elements
Enemy shields are very difficult to drop if you don't match their element in these Lost Sectors. Make sure you come in with multiple elements on your guns, and don't be afraid to restart if you find you've picked the wrong elements (usually there are only two you need to worry about per-Lost Sector).
Stasis is your friend
The new Stasis subclasses are very powerful in PvE, and are especially good at taking down enemy Champions and freezing enemies — removing them as a threat. We know we just said to diversify your loadout for shields, but in our experience, it's worth using Stasis over a traditional shield element.
Use Thermal Overload and Surge Eater
There are two very powerful Class Item mods in your Season of the Hunt Artifact: Thermal Overload and Surge Eater. Thermal Overload is a pretty standard mod, and causes both your Stasis and Solar grenades to disrupt Overload Champions.
But being solo, it can be tough to kill any kind of Champion, especially an Overload, before it starts to heal. Surge Eater helps with that, refreshing your grenade whenever you disrupt an enemy Champion. With the Duskfield Stasis grenade, this effectively lets you permanently freeze an Overload Champion until you get the chance to take it down.
Anarchy is your best Exotic
Anarchy is the best Exotic in a lot of challenging content, but that's especially true for these Lost Sectors. Anarchy lets you fire and forget mines on big bosses and Champions, letting you focus on surviving or killing additional enemies. If you don't have Anarchy, you can get it from the Monument to Lost Lights kiosk in the Tower.
Safety over speed
In these Lost Sectors, you start with limited revives, and you'll get more as you kill Champions. But once you spend 15 minutes in the Lost Sector, the game will strip away all your extra lives, meaning you'll fail on your next death. This sounds scary, and it can be if you aren't paying attention. But the rule for these Lost Sectors is always safety over speed.
If you play slow and far back, you'll never need a single life. But if you rush forward and don't think, you'll lose frequently. Play it smart and slow and you'll have less trouble.
The Beyond Light Exotics
You can farm all kinds of Exotics using the method above, but your first armor and helmet Exotics will be the Beyond Light ones. Here's a look at what they do.
Mask of Bakris - Hunter helmet
Light Shift: Replaces your Stasis subclass Dodge ability with a longer range, faster moving Shift that partially cloaks you during use. After Shifting, your Arc weapons deal increased damage for a short time.
Dawn Chorus - Warlock helmet
Rites of Ember: Your Daybreak projectiles cause targets to burn on contact and deal more damage to them. All of your burn effects last longer, and you gain a small amount of melee energy each time one of your burns damage a target.
Precious Scars - Titan helmet
Kintsugi: After reviving or being revived, your aura provides overshields to you and nearby allies.
Athrys's Embrace - Hunter arms
Skittering Stinger: Weighted Knife gains a second bounce. Rapid precision hits with your weapons grant Weighted Knife a significant damage bonus and the ability to Stagger unshielded combatants for a short time.
Necrotic Grip - Warlock arms
Grasp of the Devourer: Damaging combatants with melee attacks corrupts them with increasing damage over time. Defeating a corrupted combatant spreads the corruption effect to nearby targets and restores melee energy.
Icefall Mantle - Titan arms
Glacial Guard: Replaces your Barricade ability with a personal armor reinforcement that absorbs a small amount of damage. While reinforced, you are slowed and Barricade does not recharge.
Once you've earned all the new Exotics in a given slot, you can farm these Lost Sectors for better rolls on Exotics you already have.
